What is a capsule wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a collection of quality items that can be worn repeatedly in a variety of ways. The term was originally coined in the 80s and in the past few years several bloggers and pinners have popped up with their own versions of the "capsule wardrobe".
I was initially inspired by Project 333. A capsule challenge that downsized my wardrobe to 33 items for 3 months (jackets and shoes included!) Some minimal style blogs such as Unfancy have built communities around the capsule wardrobe concept.
Allow me to dispell a rumor. Capsule wardrobes are not a code term for a collection of boring basics. At least not to me anyway. So if a sparkly chiffon skirt makes its way into my capsule, then so be it! The goal of the capsule wardrobe is to focus on quality over quantity of items. It's an intentional approach to style.
If you don't believe me yet, stick around. You might be surprised.
